It started with one missed photograph
A family friend’s house warming. The priest finished the ritual, the grandmother’s face broke into the biggest smile of the morning — and the hired photographer was outside changing a lens.
Nobody complained. The gallery came back fine. Sharp, well-lit, correctly exposed, technically without fault. And completely missing the one frame the family would have hung on a wall.
That gap between competent and right is the whole reason FilmsByHari exists. After that morning I started doing something most photographers don’t bother with: asking for the running order in advance, learning who matters to whom, and understanding what actually happens during each ritual — before the day arrives.
It changed everything. When you know the moment is coming, you’re already standing in the right place. You’re not reacting; you’re waiting. That’s the difference between a photo of a ceremony and a photo of a family.

Trends age badly. Heavy filters age badly. What doesn’t age is a true expression, honestly lit, caught at the right half-second. Every decision I make points at that one goal.
Presence over posing
Directed portraits when you want them, absolutely. But the bulk of your gallery should be the day as it actually happened — because that’s what you’ll want to remember.
Colour that stays true
Skin tones that look like your skin. Saris and lehengas the colour they really were. Hand-graded frame by frame, never a bulk preset dragged across a folder.
Deliver like it matters
Sneak peeks in 48 hours, full gallery in 2–3 weeks, films in 4–6. Dates stated up front and kept — no chasing me for updates months later.

I ask for the running order — and I read it
Before every booking you get a short questionnaire: sequence of events, key family members, rituals involved, must-have shots, people who don’t like being photographed. I build a shot plan from your answers. On the day I’m already in position.
Photo and video are one crew, not two vendors
Most people book a photographer and a videographer separately, then spend the day watching them elbow each other out of frame. My team plans both together — the stills and the film share a colour palette, a shot list and a point of view.
I already know the ceremonies
Griha pravesham, valaikappu, seemantham, nichayathartham, half saree function. I know when the aarti happens, when the elders bless the couple, when the one-second reaction is coming. Nobody has to explain their own culture to me.
Every frame is hand-edited
No preset applied to 800 images at once. Each delivered photo is graded on its own — exposure, colour, skin tone, crop. It takes longer. It’s also why your gallery looks consistent from the bright afternoon puja to the dim evening reception.
